Jerry Dean Butts, age 68, of 301 Hicks Drive, Starr, SC, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on October 17, 2025.

Born in Anderson, SC, on November 1, 1956, he was the husband to Carmen Melane “Lane” Butts and was the son of the late Jack Miles Butts and Margie Lowery Butts. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was filled with love, laughter, and faith.

He was retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, where he proudly dedicated many years of service. A faithful member of Life Tabernacle Church in Anderson, Jerry’s love for God and family was evident in all that he did. He especially enjoyed fishing and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless laughter and joy.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Carmen Melane “Lane” Butts; his children, Jeremy Butts (Kristal), Joseph Cornwell (Carly), and Kristy Yates; and his sisters, Shelby Jean Autry of Anderson and Terri Moore of Corpus Christie, TX. He was blessed with ten grandchildren: Kyle, Jacob, Kaleb, Christina, Ella, Chesney, Jaxton, Dustin, Ryleigh, and Jace.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Life Tabernacle Church, 405 Norman Street, Anderson, SC. The family will be at the home following the service.

Jerry will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering faith, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
