Joseph Samuel Scott, “Indian Joe”, 83 of Anderson SC, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, SC, on December 26, 1942, he was the son of the late Judd Weston Scott and Frances Louise Weeks. Joseph enjoyed wood working, making custom bows and arrows, inspiring the nickname “Indian Joe”. God blessed him with knowledge of the Bible that he shared with any and all that had thirst for God’s word. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife-at-heart of over 40 years: Patricia Crawford; daughters: Gloria Burke and Teresa Sanders; grandchildren: Brian Post, Joshua Post, Brandi Burke, Blake Burke; great-grandchildren: Chloe Kim, Gabby Cavenauh, Julie Post and Sadie Post; great-great grandchild: Cora Post and a daughter-at-heart, raised in the home: Debbie Crain.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Wayne and Keith Scott.
A funeral service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 2pm with Pastor Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the Mortuary prior to the service on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 1pm to 2pm.
The family will be at their respective homes.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
