Laura Mae Wilson, fondly known to everyone as “Granny Wilson”, age 97, passed away on July 29, 2024, at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Laura was born on September 3, 1926, to Cecil and Ina Black in Easley, SC. She married GS Wilson and had three children, Preston Wilson, Patricia Wilson, and Danny C. Wilson.

She worked at the Milliken-Peerless Plant in Belton until retirement. Laura was a lifelong member at Homeland Park United Methodist Church. She served many roles during her time at the church. During her free time, she loved to read her devotions, work her puzzles, and watch The Price Is Right. Her biggest joy came from being Mama and Granny to her children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and loved everyone.

Laura was predeceased by her grandsons: Jeremey Walters, Austin Walters; her brothers: Curtis Black, Virgil Black, and Heyward Black; her son: Danny Wilson; her husband and her parents.

She is survived by her children: Preston (Barbara) and Patricia; her grandchildren: Tammy Bobo, Jennifer Wilson, Daniel Wilson (Amanda), Stephanie Hopper (Kevin), Justin Wilson (Ashley), and Allyson Walters (Jay); her great grandchildren: Trever Edmondson, Marisa Traxel (Dana), Noah P. Wilson, Jordyn Wilson, Braxton Wilson, Stone Wilson, Harley Wilson, Katie Wilson, Dillon Walters, Kelsey Hopper, Kailyn Hopper, Griffin Hopper, Ava Wilson, Alaura Wilson (Laura’s namesake), Makayla James, and Tyler Ellison; and her great-great grandchildren: Elijah Edmondson, Evelyn Edmondson, Jaylen Hanna, Lilli Swaney, Wilson Swaney, Luke P. Wilson, Waylon Hanna, Ollie Walters, Margot Walters, Sophia Smith, Silas Smith, Colton Ellison, and Casey Ellison.

Services will be held at Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel in Anderson on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Visitation will be 11:30 am-1:00 pm. The service, led by the Rev. Mike Vandiver and Rev. Barry Jordan, will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will be immediately following at New Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homeland Park United Methodist Church or Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

The family will be at their respective homes.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
