Martha Ann Carey Perry, 79 of Anderson, passed away peacefully at the Rainey Hospice House on Monday, July 27, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Born in Franklin County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Carey and Geneva Haley Carey. Martha was formerly employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass and later became a dedicated homemaker.
Martha was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple; she was a former member of Oakwood Baptist Church.
While she enjoyed her career in manufacturing, her greatest accomplishments were found in the love that she shared with her family. After retiring, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to the roles she treasured most: wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She found immense joy in caring for her loved ones, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She loved to spend time with her special pet companion, Petey. Martha loved the outdoors, camping, telling jokes and stories of her past, sharing her delicious recipes, and she especially loved gardening.
Martha had a lifelong love of arts and crafts. Whether she was baking pies and cakes, canning her famous pickles, creating something beautiful with her hands, or working on a special sewing project for someone she loved, she found joy in expressing her creativity. Her handmade gifts and thoughtful creations were tangible expressions of the love and thoughtfulness she poured into everything she did. She had a unique way of making others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She never met a stranger that she didn’t love and made an impression on. Her influence will continue to be felt in the hearts of all who knew her.
Martha leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, generosity and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and neighbors. She fought a courageous battle of cancer and dementia with faith and dignity.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Randy T. Perry of the home, her daughters, Lisa C. Rall of Anderson; Michelle Edwards Hewitt (Shane) of Pendleton; and son Dale Carrington of Tryon, North Carolina. Six grandchildren: Corey Evans, Joey and Treadley Carrington, Toni McCurley, Briana Harrington, and Austin Powell; and six great-grandchildren: Colten McCurley, Brandon Nettles, Jaxson McCurley, Bella Sorensen, and Grayson and Lainee Carrington. A sister-in-law, Linda Hart Carey of Hartwell; a multitude of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers: James L, Z.O., Thomas, J.V., Joe, Talmadge, Willie, and Henry Carey; and four sisters: Amelia Brooks, Katie McClain, Sidney Bailey and Nancy Culpepper. She enjoyed being the baby of thirteen children.
The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the in-home caregivers who assisted in her care while at home. A very special thanks to the Rainey Hospice House of Anderson, their staff, and the nurses who made her comfortable as she transitioned peacefully to her Heavenly Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gethsemane Baptist Temple,6116 SC-81, Starr, SC 29684, on, August 4, 2026, with visitation for the family beginning at 6:00 p.m. prior to the service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Sam Duncan officiating.
The family will be at the home.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
