Martha N. Holbrook, loving widow of Broadus C. Holbrook, of Iva passed away on November 24, 2016.
Martha was born in Iva on November 14, 1926 to the late Monroe and Dewey White Newby. She was a faithful member of Good Hope Presbyterian Church in Iva for 70 years. She served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher of children and adults and was active in Presbyterian Women. Martha was employed in the office at Jackson Mills in Iva for 44 years. After retiring in 1988, she and her husband volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are one son; Fred and his wife, Janice, of Lexington, SC, two grandchildren; Erin Diehl and her husband John, and Jonathan, all from Chicago, Illinois. Also, Martha is survived by one brother; David Newby from Iva and one sister; Dixie Campbell, from Anderson.
She was predeceased by her sister; Elizabeth McMahan, brothers; Douglas and Lindsey and two infant sisters, Iris and Mary Alice.
Services will be conducted at Good Hope Presbyterian Church in Iva at 11am on Monday, November 28, 2016 with burial in Iva City Cemetery. The services will be officiated by Rev. Jan Culpepper and Rev. Dr. Joe Durham. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am preceding the service at the church.
The family will be at the home of her brother, David Newby.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Hope Presbyterian Church in Iva, SC, or to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory Iva Chapel, will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
