Rachel Vickery, 79, of Anderson SC, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, SC, on September 2, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ruby Epps Dyar and the wife of 58 years to John Vickery.
Rachel was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple, a retired seamstress and a loving wife, mother and nanny.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son: James Vickery (Debbie); brothers: Benny, Wade and Ruben Dyar; sisters: JoAnn Vaughn and Angela Cross; grandchildren: Christian Smith (Allen) and United States Army Chief Warrant Officer two James Adam Vickery (Megan); great-grandchildren: Cayden, Carleigh and Caiya Smith; Mylie McClain, McKenna and Madelyn Vickery; as well as a daughter in law: Esther Vickery.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son: Joel Vickery; brother: Perry Dyar and her sister: Linda Cross.
A funeral service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel, on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 1pm with Pastor Sam Duncan and Pastor Benny Dyar officiating. Burial will be at MJ Dolly Copper Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday, August 22, 2022, at the South Chapel from 12pm to 1pm.
The family will be at the residence.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
