Rev. Jerry L. Parnell, 84, of Anderson SC, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home.
Born on May 13, 1939, in Anderson SC, he was the son of the late Raymond and Isabel Hilley Parnell. He was the Pastor Emeritus for 31 years with Canaan Baptist Church; past Pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Anderson, SC, and Old Canon Baptist Church in Canon Ga.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Frankie Nelson Parnell; daughters: Jeri P. McGuffin (Tim) and Chris Ann Shorter (Doug); grandchildren: Drew McGuffin, Hope Brazil, Jonathan Wilkinson, Chase Wilkinson, Caleb Wilkinson, Kristen Cobb, Ben Wilkinson, Karis Stewart, and Karoline Stewart; great-grandchildren: Rose McGuffin, Grayson Brazil, Audrey Brazil, Lily Wilkinson. Bolton Wilkinson, Eliana Wilkinson, Ayla Wilkinson, Rowan Wilkinson, Reagan Wilkinson, Lincoln Cobb, Liam Cobb, and Lexington Cobb.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter: Erin Stewart and 4 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at Canaan Baptist Church on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 4pm with Rev. David Forro, Rev. Tommy Alewine and Brother Mike Hawkins officiating. Entombment will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 2:30pm to 3:45pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Canaan Baptist Church, 1834 South Murray Ave, Anderson SC 29624.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
