Ruth Helen Kelley Rhodes, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully at Rainey Hospice house on Sunday, June 21, 2015.

Ruth was born on June 9, 1932, in Walhalla, SC, to parents, Earlie Mae and Leonard Non Kelley.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse Earl Rhodes, Jr. (J.E.), sister, Willie Mae Tucker, and brother, Will Kelley.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia D. Brissey, Donna G. Steadman, and Debra J. Winchester, sister, Lois Holbrooks, and brother, Wilton Kelley.  She was a proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ruth was a spunky little woman, enjoyed laughing and chatting with friends and strangers alike.  She enjoyed shopping at Hamrick’s, traveling, beautiful flowers, working in her yard, and took great pride in cleaning her home.  She was busy and hardworking all the day long.

Ruth was a faithful member of Asbury Baptist Church and found great joy in worshipping and fellowshipping with the members.

A public viewing will be available on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Sosebee Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, from 8:30am – 12:30pm.

Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.  Rev. DeLennon Stowe will officiate.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to dear friends, family, and neighbors who visited with their Mother during her illness.  Your acts of kindness are immeasurable.  A special thank you is extended to Hospice of the Upstate for their tender care and guidance.

This is a family of faith and they have the comforting assurance that life goes on forever, that death is not the end.  Rest in peace dear Mother- God be with you till we meet again.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, Downtown Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
