Thelma Jean ‘Mema’ Evans Moore, 86, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, SC on July 14, 1937; she was the daughter of the late William Butler and Mary Odell Sutherland Evans; and was married to the late John ‘Marshall’ Moore, Sr.

Mema worked in textiles at Starr Mill and later retired from the Torrington Company in Honea Path, SC. She also worked as a substitute teacher with Anderson School District 2. She was a member of Lowndesville Baptist Church.

Her greatest joy was being a loving mama and mema.

She is survived by her son, Randy Moore (Michelle); grandchildren: Mandy, Lynley, and Justin Moore, Tara Miller (Marcus), and Rachel Moore (Brianna); great grandchildren: Gracyn Moore, Soren, Logan and Scarlett Miller; and great great grandson, George Moore.

In addition to her parents and husband; she is also predeceased by a son, John ‘Marshall’ Moore, Jr.; brothers: Carl and Howard Evans; and sisters: Mamie Rauton, Idelia Crocker, and Edna Stephens.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Sosebee Mortuary, South Chapel at 1:00 pm. Eulogy will be given by Gracyn Moore, great granddaughter, and the service will be officiated by Pastor Fred Griggs. Burial will follow at Norris Hill Presbyterian Church.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday at the mortuary from 11am – 1pm.

Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, South Chapel, is assisting the family.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Sosebee Mortuary, South Chapel at 1:00 pm.

Burial will follow at Norris Hill Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday at the mortuary from 11am - 1pm.
