Date of Funeral

January 17, 2025

Tommy Lee Fleming, 77, of Iva, SC passed away at his residence on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Born in Elberton, GA on May 22, 1947; he was the son of the late Jule Andrew and Gladys Christine Shiflet Fleming.  He was married to Annie Eugenia ‘Jean’ Ellis Fleming.

Although Tommy talked slowly and walked even slower, he always knew where he was going.  As a big man of 6’5” tall, he was a gentle giant who loved his family most.  Tommy loved all things outdoors, from hunting, fishing, to shooting squirrels off the birdfeeder.  He had a gift for growing the best tomatoes.

Tommy was generous to his friends and strangers alike and was known to his friends as ‘Sleepy’.  He had a great dry sense of humor, as well as he was the best redneck engineer.  He had a love of fast cars, westerns, and peanut butter cookies.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is also survived by his children:  Dena Jane Fleming Campbell (Ken), Kami Leigh Ann Fleming, Robin Lynn Hall Horne (Andy), and Tina Marie Hall Fowler (Greg); grandchildren:  Nicholas ‘Nick’ Andrew Horne (Emily), Anna Grace Horne, Thomas Jacob ‘Jake’ Campbell, Jacob Creed Fowler, Tyler Cain Campbell, and Wyatt Ellis Fowler; and great-grandchildren:  Asher Keegan Horne and Shepherd Nicholas Horne.

In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by a brother, Donald Fleming; and sisters: Rachel Fain and Connie Dove.

The family will hold a graveside service at 1pm on Friday, January 17, 2025, officiated by Rev. Darrell Fetzer at Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hwy 28, Abbeville, SC.   Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephew, David Jason Dove.

Following the graveside service, there will be a time of visitation at the church.

The family will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Iva Fire Dept, 9711 SC 81, Iva, SC 29655.
