Richard Hall Humphries February 3, 1939 - May 2, 2024

Richard Hall Humphries, 85, formerly of Greenville and Lexington, VA, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC from dementia.

Mr. Humphries was born on February 3, 1939, in Vesuvius, VA, a son of the late Clyde Herman and Margaret Ellen “Polly” (Morris) Humphries. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ann (Moneymaker) Humphries, and a sister, Charlotte Ann (Humphries) Parker. Mr. Humphries was a veteran of the United States Army and worked until retirement at Dupont. He was a member of Vesuvius Baptist Church and a friend of Emory United Methodist Church.

Mr. Humphries was known for his sense of humor, and he enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing. He had a great love of music, particularly playing harmonica and bass along with gospel and bluegrass music.

Mr. Humphries is survived by a son, Randy Humphries of Vesuvius; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jonathan Mann of Summerfield, NC; five grandchildren, Trevor Humphries, Lauren, Lindsey, Spencer, and Brayden Mann; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern, VA. A graveside service by Pastor Theresa Moore will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
