Edith Sue “Mama Nanny” Poole Gilstrap, 84, of Anderson SC, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson SC, on March 16, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Guy frank Poole and Grace Rumsey. Mama Nanny loved her Bojangles, catfish, dancing and singing with her son Jimmy.

She is survived by her children: Linda Pruitt, Jimmy Gilstrap (Melinda), Debbie Watkins (Mark), Janet Johnson (Ronnie), Loretta Montgomery (Bill), Jane Vaughn, Rickie Gilstrap (Linda) and Pete Gilstrap; many grand, great, and great great grandchildren; brother: James Poole; sisters: Helen Allen, Mary Wilson and Pauline Barton.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her children: Lisa Gilstrap and Patricia Prince; sisters: Elizabeth Boggs, JoAnne Diaz and Susie Kelly; brothers: Frank Poole and David Poole.

A funeral service will be held at Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2pm with Pastor David Standard officiating. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held at the South Chapel prior to the service on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 1pm to 2pm.

The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Janet and Ronnie Gilstrap.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
