John Robert Hamby, 74, of Anderson SC, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, SC, on January 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Andrew and Hailey Hamby; the husband to Glenda Hamby and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Robert Hamby and Greg Hamby (Susan); daughter: Teresa Fortner; brothers: Harold, Micheal and Terry Hamby; sister: Linda Dutton, Shelby McAlister and Helen Knight; 7 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a special daughter-in-law: Rhonda Hamby; brothers: Larry, Kenneth, Gerald and Boyce Hamby and a sister: Frances Carver.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Gethsemane Baptist Temple at 3pm with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at Gethsemane on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 1:30pm to 3pm.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Hamby.
The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
